Thomas Muller Transfer News – Everybody shows an interest (apparently)

There have been reports of some Thomas Muller transfer news recently. Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, Juventus and Liverpool have all been linked with moves in January. Most are said to have enquired about the German in the Summer. So any truth to this one? Is Muller likely to leave in January?

Thomas Muller

Age: 27

Nationality:

Position: striker or attacking midfielder through centre or on the right

Reported Transfer Fee: Nothing mentioned with recent stories (Liverpool linked with £57mil move in July though)

2016/17 League Stats: 25 starts (4 sub appearances)  5 goals (12 assists)

Verdict: In terms of Thomas Muller leaving in January or even the Summer, let’s not mess about. I would say it’s an emphatic, Not Happening!

I can appreciate why teams might show interest given his undoubted quality. He’s proven at the very top. He’s won everything in the game, domestically and internationally. He also played a huge part in these successes.  He’s one of the best in the World at what he does, so you can understand why so many clubs might be linked.

I doubt any of this got beyond the enquiry stage though and that is only if any clubs did feel like wasting their time in the Summer and  I imagine it would be the same in January.

There has been suggestions of difficulties between Muller and Ancelotti and I’ve read suggestions he was figuring less in first team but in terms of league appearances he actually featured a similar amount to what he had done the 4 previous seasons. The only aspect of his game which suffered last season was his goals scored; 5 as opposed to 20 the previous season. However the season before last was well over his average which is around the 13 goals mark. Still a noticeable decrease for sure with most of the opportunities being created for Lewandowski but still not quite as bad as it’s made out.

Muller did get 12 assists last season too which is up from the previous season’s 5 and his average which is around the 10 mark. So all things considered his season under Ancelotti isn’t as bad as I feel it has been portrayed in the media, even if his form did dip at times. It feels like it has been exaggerated to give some rumours a bit of justification.

Next summer may be a different story but to be honest I still struggle to see Muller leaving Munich. Its a club he has grown up at and has a strong affinity towards and strengthened by how much he and the club has won together. There’s not many better places in Europe to continue challenging and winning. In terms of what the Premiership has to offer currently, there’s no one stronger than Bayern.

Will Muller leave Bayern in January? Will he leave Bayern ever? Let me know your thoughts below.
